From approximately 1500 inquiries, ITH will only be able to serve 25 new families each year. That is why it is important to make the call to begin the process. Prospective residents need to call back each Wednesday thereafter, confirming the continuing need and motivation.

When an opening becomes available, a short list is created from the names who called most consistently over the longest period of time for a phone interview.

From the phone interview we know better whose needs we can best serve. Those will be called for an onsite interview. The willingness to participate in coaching, classes and employment guidance is assessed. From perhaps three interviews in this last hurdle, 24 hours later, one family will be notified of their acceptance.
